I've just uploaded a new version of Clue, an insane C compiler that targets languages that are not designed to run C (Javascript, Perl...). This version now has a a Java backend, which means you can compile standard ANSI C into Java. Performance isn't bad, either; I'm seeing about 40% of the speed of native on some benchmarks.
